Laser hair removal involves the use of laser pulses. These pulses emit light into the skin that destroys the root and follicle of the hair. When the root and follicle are destroyed, hair can no longer grow.

For this process to work, the hair must be targeted during an active growth phase. However, individual hairs usually grow at different rates. That’s why it takes several treatment sessions to capture every hair in the growth phase for optimal results.

It’s important to maintain consistent appointments as directed by our staff to ensure we catch and kill as many hair follicles in the active growth phase. Inconsistent appointments may lead to inconsistent results.

It is recommended to get at least one touch up every year to maintain your smooth appearance, although some clients require more or less frequent maintenance. Treatment areas such as the bikini line, brazilian, and face often require more frequent touch ups.

Treatments take anywhere from 10 minutes to 90 minutes depending on how large the area is, or how many areas you’re treating in an appointment.

The ability to treat you is based on the color of the hair in the area you’d like treated (ex: underarms). We can treat brown, black, and dark red hair. Lasers are attracted to the pigment in the hair follicle, so when clients have lighter hair in the treatment area, the laser can’t pinpoint the target.

Clients with light red, blonde, gray, or white hair in the area they’d like treated may see some hair reduction, but would not see satisfying results.

Absolutely! At Laser Focus we use the Motus AZ, which is an Alexandrite 755nm laser that is safe and FDA approved for every skin tone. That means clients with darker skin will get the most effective results with less treatments.
